Our Travel Basketball teams require a competitive try-out process open to all players within each team’s age and gender for players grades 3 thru 8th. Players chosen for UMBC Travel teams do not play as part of our intramural program. Players not chosen to be a part of the travel team are credited $25.00 towards their intramural registration and placed into their appropriate grade intramural leagues.
Only players that are registered here will be eligible to be considered for travel and participate in tryouts.

Tryout Dates and Locations
Tryouts dates (usually 3 or 4) are set as soon as coaches are selected usually in September or early October. Each player is required to attend 2 tryouts to be considered for the team. A player may only try out for the grade they are in. Tryout dates will be emailed to all registered participants and published on the travel section of our website.
Steps Post Tryouts
Players will be contacted by coaches that made they team and need to accept their position.
Acceptance & payment: Those accepting travel position must accept online and fully checkout and pay for their travel registration costs. Players will have 5 days to accept their position and pay for their travel registration. If a player has not accepted their position a coach may provide an alternate player in place.
Team Announcement: When a fully submitted team has accepted. UMBC will post that team to our website which provides an email notification as well.
Uniforms: Uniform price is 110.00. There will be announced fittings for uniforms.
Practices: Practice data can be provided to coaches after they have a full team that has accepted.
Practices will usually be 2-3X per week in Oct-Dec and then 1-2X in Dec-March with 1-3 games a week set by ICBA.
Grade: UMBC rules require you to tryout for your own grade only; unless there is not a team at your grade and then you can try put up or down (if birthday permits).

If you are registering for Travel - PLEASE DO NOT also register for in house. You will be automatically transferred if you do not make the travel team.
